Short review
Mel graduated from Penn State in 1962 and became a certified golf course superintendent in 1976. He has been Superintendent at courses that include Garden City GC and Piping Rock GC and has grown in numerous courses including Thracian Cliffs in Bulgaria. He was President of GCSAA in 1980 and was an honorary member of SIGGA before the UK Associations amalgamated in 1987. He was also president of the Golf Collectors Society and its CEO in 1995/96.
Since 1989 he has been a turf consultant to over 50 courses across 12 European courses.
Recently he received the Col.John Morley Distinguished Services Award from the GCSAA.
